What if I am running late?
Sydney traffic is highly unpredictable not to mention daily emergencies interfering with our schedules. Please ring the salon and notify us immediately so we can do our very best to ensure there is still plenty of time for you to enjoy your treatment. In some cases, on highly booked days, as a courtesy to our other clients, we may not be able to be as flexible. Your appointment may then have to be cut short or an alternate treatment may have to be performed instead.
How do I know which treatments are most suitable for my skin?
Most of our treatments are suitable for all skin types and conditions. If in doubt please allow your therapist to recommend something most suitable for your skin. Alternatively you may also wish to book in for a Skin Consultation for a thorough skin analysis and to discuss your skin's needs, goals and treatment plans.
How often should I have a facial?
We recommend everybody to have a facial once a month because nothing you do at home can replace professional attention. It takes our skin 21-28 day to move its full life cycle of skin cell growth and exfoliation, so a facial every 3 - 4 weeks can really help that process along.
There are exceptions with some corrective facials which are recommended to be had every week or fortnight. In those circumstances you will be guided by your skin therapist.
My skin is VERY sensitive, I react to EVERYTHING
We understand that annoying feeling of wanting to have a facial however dreading that skin flare up afterwards. The best thing to do would be to book in for a Skin & Wellness Consultation prior to your facial treatment. From there your skin therapist will perform a thorough analysis of your skin and determine whether your skin is a true sensitive or purely just sensitised. We will then be able to correctly guide you into the most suitable facial treatment to minimise any chance of skin reactions.
My skin has broken out so close to a special event. What facial should I book in for to clear my skin immediately?
Nothing is more frustrating than having to deal with an unexpected visitor so close to a special event where you'd really like to look your very best. The bad news is, as much as we'd love to, we don't have access to a magic wand which will zap that pimple away instantly. However the good news is, we do have access to amazing equipment and skincare to help settle and heal that unwanted visitor quickly. Your best option is to book in for a Skin & Wellness Consultation followed by a facial. We can then perform a thorough skin analysis and recommend a treatment and after care plan for optimal results. It is also very important to understand and resolve why that inflammation is present and provide you with information on skincare, nutrition and at home facials you may perform on yourself to ensure those visitors aren't dropping in as often.
I am using every product under the sun religiously, why is my skin still not perfect?
Firstly, no one's skin in perfect. However we are here to help you achieve that "perfect skin" look. Skin care products can be your BFF but they can also be your worse enemy. There are many reasons why your skin may not be responding to the care and attention you are investing. The main reasons may be that you are either; a) using the wrong products or b) over using those products and disturbing the skin's intercellular matrix. If you are religiously cleansing, using serums, moisturising, exfoliating and masking but still not achieving the results you're hoping for, then it is time to book in for a Skin & Wellness Consultation followed by a facial. Allow your skin therapist to take over and educate you on using the correct products, how to use those products, when to use those products, how not to overuse those products and most importantly how to fuel your body with the most nutritious foods to bring out that beautiful skin from within.
I'd love to come to the salon but I can't get there, do you do home visits?
We would love to arrange that for you! Please contact Amy at the salon.
Please note, some treatments may not be able to be performed from your home and there will be a Home Visit and Travel fee.
Is Amy a nutritionist? Why is nutrition so important when treating skin conditions?
Amy is not and does not claim to be a nutritionist however she has completed Skin & Nutritional courses which provide her with the skills and knowledge to better assist her clients in treating their inflammed and troubled skin conditions. Our skin is the largest neuroendocrine organ of the human body and our gut is the largest immune organ. There is now increasingly strong evidence of close neuro-immune crosstalk between the skin and gut. When our skin is inflammed, the neuropeptide that drives that inflammation which is produced in the gut, brain and skin is unbalanced. An altered gut microbiota promotes the release of this neuropeptide called Substance P, into the blood stream from the gut where it accumulates in the skin, disrupting skin homeostasis. This results in acne, dermititis, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, glycation and accelerated ageing. Having a well balanced and nutritious diet nourishes our gut and promotes healthy gut microbiota which then results in healthy skin microbiota which is seen through beautiful, healthy and glowing skin.
Where Amy feels necessary she will always refer you to a nutritionist or doctor and any information she provides is purely only recommendations and guidance and to further amplify the results from her treatments and home care.
What is Reiki, will Reiki benefit me?
Reiki is a beautiful Japanese healing energy. The Japanese word Rei meaning Higher Power and the word Ki meaning Life Force Energy. It is a hands on healing technique which increases the natural flow of life force energy in our body and brings us a sense of security, well-being, relaxation and feelings of peace. When your life force energy is low you are more likely to feel stress and physically unwell. Everybody will experience Reiki energy differently as Reiki will find its way to the areas where you need it the most.
Yes, Reiki will benefit everybody! It induces deep relaxation, assists in the body's natural healing process and helps people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress and improve overall well-being. People who have received Reiki often describe it as "intensely relaxing".
Are your IPL hair removal treatments really painless?
100% painless! Most conventional IPL laser hair removal technologies utilise massive amounts of heat to destroy hair follicles and ensure permanent reduction. The SHR IPL Laser which we use fire multiple shots but at lower Joules. This new method gently heats the hair follicles producing a warm tingling sensation—some clients compare it to a warm massage. In-Motion™ technology is utilised by moving the hand piece over the treated skin which contributes to the overall comfort felt by our clients during their hair reduction treatments.
Is IPL hair removal permanent? How many sessions will I need?
There is no such thing as permanent laser hair removal as our hair cycle will change with our hormones and sometimes at the time of treatment there are inactive hair follicles under the skin which may decide to activate itself later on. It is however a permanent hair reduction. Meaning sometimes there will be hairs that just won't budge or years down the track you may need a top up session for those random hairs which are visible.
It is hard to predict how many treatments you will need as everybody's body is different. As a rule of thumb we always recommend 10-12 as it is always better to under promise and over deliver. Usually our clients have claimed to only need approximately 6-8 treatments with visible treatments after the first session!
